History of Suffolk Cars

Suffolk Sportscars 

was established to produce high-quality, authentic recreations of the iconic pre war Jaguar SS100 and later the Jaguar C type. With limited production numbers and many cars exported around the world, these cars offer a rare opportunity to own an affordable, usable version of a pre war classic or the 1953 Le Mans racer—both sympathetically upgraded for modern driving.

The Suffolk SS100
Unlike many vintage cars, which can be difficult and unpleasant to drive, the Suffolk SS100 combines classic aesthetics with contemporary comfort, dependability, and ease of use. Faithfully echoing William Lyons’ original design, this exceptional Suffolk engineering has earned acclaim from Jaguar clubs across the UK, offering owners the best of both worlds: timeless style with modern performance and reliability.

The Suffolk C type

 was created to be exact in dimensions and rewarding in its dynamic performance. The Suffolk recreation prototype was comprehensively tested having been raced, toured and used on track days and was found to give the same handling and performance as good as the original. The interior is exactly as the original, leather seats with Hardura transmission tunnel coverings, bare alloy, black instruments including the spare set of spark plugs. The driver’s comfort has marginally improved with extra legroom for taller drivers but don’t expect a heater, a hood or loads of storage space. Its loud and its raw and brilliant fun to drive.

Although Suffolk Sportscars is no longer in business, Suffolk Classic Services has all the experience, background and expertise to fully support current and new Suffolk car owners with parts, maintenance and advice.

In the couple of decades that Philip, Mike and Dave worked at Suffolk Sportscars, we learned, developed and helped to improve the design and functionality of the Suffolk SS and C Type cars. More importantly during this time, great friendships were developed with customers and many of these Suffolk owners remain loyal SCS customers and friends today. With such extensive privileged knowledge of these cars, there is very little we cannot assist you with today, whether you have cherished your Suffolk for many years, have recently taken ownership or currently just toying with the idea, please contact us for any of your requirements. We offer all workshop services and facilities listed under the Services section.

IVA - Individual Vehicle Approval

Is your car registered correctly?  We have set up a dedicated company, trading as Anglia Vehicle Approvals,  specifically dedicated to carry out  everything to do with the IVA process. 

The company operates alongside Suffolk Classic services in a dedicated building on the same site at Pettistree and employs staff exclusively assigned to this task. They will handle the considerable amount of paperwork and modifications which your car may require to achieve the IVA pass and therefore get your car registered and road legal. We have the necessary experience required to get your car through the IVA test with the minimum of hassle.
